That's very cool - I'm Canadian and I felt the same way you did when I visited the States and someone asked me that question.

We don't think in binary terms like that. Sure, we have 4 or 5 big political parties in Canada, but few people identify themselves by the party they more often vote for.

Consider yourself an honorary Canadian in that sense.
