Biden: paying higher taxes is a patriotic act

If risking your life by joining the military is patriotic, why isn't it patriotic to risk just your money by paying higher taxes? After all, you can't get your life back, but you can get your money back via investment in infrastructure, better health care, healthier food and drugs, etc., etc., etc. The rich just want more and more and more and they want other people to pay for it.
