I agree, it's everywhere. I'm good with words so I'm also good at sarcasm but as of a couple of years ago I decided to cut it out almost entirely. Snidely saying the opposite of what one means is a pretty poor means of communication -- even if it's perfectly suited to North American culture, irony-laden and too cool to care about anything.

I think sarcasm is overrated. People have come to expect sarcasm so much that they get lots of false positives, making it hard to have any kind of honest communication between people who disagree.
