imdb: A colorful and provocative survey of anarchism in America, the film attempts to dispel popular misconceptions and trace the historical development of the movement. The film explores the movement both as a native American philosophy stemming from 19th century American traditions of individualism, and as a foreign ideology brought to America by immigrants. The film features rare archival footage and interviews with significant personalities in anarchist history including Murray Boochkin and Karl Hess, and also live performance footage of the Dead Kennedys. That first little bit is a little strong.

I'm not sure where that was, at the beggining but one of the guys in the roit got shot in the head. Lets just say that that person they show last isnt going to get up.

My advice to those of the weaker stomach do not pay to much attention to the first part.

Good post dude... if I could up-vote this more than once I would. Not all of the arguments presented in this film are intelligent, but the social changes of the 60's and 70's have always fascinated me, and I dig the music too. Another of many interesting documentaries found on the sift... keep it coming.

Its an unrealistic ideology. Nothing I didnt know already.
It works in small to medium tribal groups, but surely not in our huge and advanced society.

But...."our huge and advanced society".....Is it working?? For a few it is-Myself included as the wave we ride approaches the break-get ya a better surf board, and thank the cosmos daily for this, your most advantageous incarnation....

Alright, then let us replace our current system with one that is even worse and was invented in the stone age.
Nice logic. How about we try monarchy again? Woot! Dictatorship will work too I heard! Lets try it out again, doesnt matter if we did already and seen it fail before... Lets do another round, just for fun!

If that's to what your historical perspective amount you'll sure do nothing but that.

Anarchy will never work as a system of government. Its a ideological pipe dream of the uninformed and the disaffected.

for those who actually watch this, the consideration about anarchy will invariably change some minds. Most people have a dichotomous belief of what anarchy is in contrast to how it actually functions. The rebellious and radical anarchist gives way to the pacifist, nonviolent notion of the genuine article.
