>> ^GreatBird: That's really in the final cut of the movie?
Yes, it really is. And in the special editions and remastered versions as well. And in the new Episode II as well, Jango Fett (the guy all the clone troopers are made from you remember) does the same thing as he boards his ship on that water planet, after his fight with Obi-wan. Complete with sound effects in his case as well.
I think the audio has been doctored in this clip. As I remember it, the initial 'click' that you heard was the first stormtrooper's mic cutting in (as they all did); it just happened to be timed with the bump of the head. At least that's how it sounded on my original VHS tapes that I bought back in 1986, as well as the letterbox VHS editions.
Funny, none the less. There's also a blooper in the original cut of ROTJ, pre-Special Edition. Right after Jabba's sail barge blows up, they wipe to the Death Star with the Emperor arriving. Right after the wipe takes place, there are four TIE's that fly into frame, from around the camera (ie. one on top, one on bottom, to the left and to the right). If you follow this squad alllll the way down, they disappear right before the scene cuts to the inside of the Death Star.
Oh, and I never found the shoe...or the wads of gum, etc.
the audio is definitely not doctored, except perhaps that the foley effects guys actually might have added it in after having noticed the blooper during post production. i love showing this to people who haven't seen it before. cracks me up every time.
What cracks me up is that all storm troopers are clones. So how are they different heights? One of the extras didn't show for shooting that day? If so they must have stuck Peter Mayhew (Chewie) in the suit and called it good.

The storm troopers were ORIGINALLY clones, during the glorious end days of the Republic and the CLONE Wars. After that, Kamino, where the clones were created, revolted and its cloning facilities were destroyed by the Empire. The storm troopers thus became filled with incompetents from all over the galaxy.
There's also another pretty prominent blooper in Star Wars when Han and them are taking off in the Millennium Falcon, for a split second in the hall behind the cockpit you can see someone leaving the shot. The lights are green in the hall, and for some reason the guy looks like he's wearing a doctor's coat.

The sound is defiantly doctored. The 'click' sound is the mic and legit. The 'bomp' sound is new to this clip. Classic clip though.

Ah, see. It was doctored. The clip FishBulb found is the original.

Sheesh.
The first stormtrooper does clear the door, but his buddy behind him doesn't make it.
for the life of me, I cant see what he is hitting his head on.
The door is quite thick. He hits the far side (his side) of it.
